About Chris Porter
Chris practices at the intersection of intellectual property and business law and is based out of Godwin Adkins’s Rochester, Minnesota office. Chris handles a variety of legal matters, including commercial and civil litigation, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and employment law. Chris’ passion for the law is centered on helping entrepreneurs and creative businesspeople build their businesses and protect their tangible and intangible assets.
Before joining Godwin Adkins, Chris worked for a private law firm in Minneapolis, where he concentrated on commercial litigation, restrictive covenants, and trademark prosecution. During law school, Chris participated in the Intellectual Property Moot Court, the Business Law Clinic, Law Counsel, and various student organizations. His coursework ranged from civil litigation and contract drafting to trademarks, copyright, patents, patent research and writing, trade secrets, data privacy, and bankruptcy law, among others.
Chris graduated with his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he earned concentrations in intellectual property and business law.
Chris is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, a member of the Olmsted County Bar Association, and a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Chris volunteers his time by providing pro bono advising to artists through Minnesota Lawyers for the Arts.
